Activities on the management of disused sealed radioactive sources
The activities on the management of disused sealed radioactive sources and radioactive waste have been continued.
After the successful completion of the regional project – IPA 2009 Programme for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection entitled: “Management of sealed radioactive sources, including radioactive lightning rods and strengthening the effectiveness of the regulatory infrastructure in the field of radiation protection in Montenegro, Macedonia and Kosovo”, the activities related to good management of disused sealed radioactive sources of radiation have been continued.
- Conditioning of sealed radioactive sources in a radioactive waste warehouse, in the period from 18 to 27 June 2014. Four IAEA experts, together with a team from CETI will perform the conditioning of radioactive sources in the warehouse, and under the control of the Inspection Authority – Environmental Inspection.

Inter-regional training course from 24 to 26 June 2014, dedicated to the management of disused sealed radioactive sources, which will, in addition to lecturers and participants from Montenegro, involve 17 representatives of competent institutions from 14 countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Macedonia, Tunisia and Turkey). The theoretical part of the training course will be held on 24 and 26 June 2014 at the Aurel Hotel. The practical demonstration exercise will be carried out in the radioactive waste warehouse on 25 June, when some practical activities conducted by the IAEA will be filmed as well.
Active participation of Montenegrin institutions in the project INT9176 is the best evidence of the willingness of relevant institutions in this area to meet all the requirements of international standards. More information about the events can be obtained from the following contact persons:
